When Godfroy Moras was born in 1693 in Paris, France, his father, Pierre, was 56, and his mother, Marie, was 42. He married Marie Anne Deroche around 1715 in his hometown. They had only one child (Claude) during their marriage.
It appears that after Godfrey died in 1719, Anne Albina Deroche was either pregnant with Claude or moved to Quebec shortly after his birth (New France at the time) to start a new life. Anne Albina Deroche and her son Joseph Claude Morasse brought our Morasse family to North America and this is where it all started for us!
While Godfroy Moras himself lived and died in France, his descendants became prominent early settlers in the Quebec region (specifically around Sainte-Foy). Over generations, spelling conventions shifted significantly; many branches of his descendants altered the original surname Moras to variations such as Morasse, Moross, or Morse
I cannot find any information on Godfrey's parents or anything before this period. This is the Moras ("Morris") history. I cannot tie Godfrey in to Pierre Mouet de Moras, even though many parts of Ancestry.com do. There is no record of Pierre Mouet de Moras having a child named Godfrey, even though I can see all of Pierre Mouet de Moras's children in many other sources. It just doesn't match to Godfrey, so I must stop here.
