Based on his father's and grandfather's name, the correct spelling is Moras.  The last change to Morris was due to an admin error when Milton was working as a young man for a new company in Texas, and they verbally asked him, "What is your last name?", and he said, "Moras," but they understood Morris and the rest is history. He never changed it back to the correct spelling to keep his pay and social security records the same. 

If you are a descendant of Milton Morris, your real last name should actually be Moras as noted in Milton's family tree below. 

They had four children:

His son Heldon Joseph was born in 1927.

His daughter Helen was born on August 16, 1929.

His son Wilson Slim was born in 1933.

His daughter Laura Dean was born in 1940 

When Milton Morris was born on June 24, 1904, in Marksville, Louisiana, his father, Ebert, was 30 and his mother, Rosa, was 26. He had two sons and two daughters with Anna Brevelle between 1928 and 1940. He died on January 16, 1992, in his hometown at the age of 87. 

Milton was a professional barber for many years at Fort Polk (Fort Johnson) and was also known for loving to fish and even owned a fish market in his time. The lived the majority of their life in the "Spring Bayou" area of Marksville, LA.
